This game does give you the standard storyline most gamers crave with the element of freedom thrown in for drunk fuck like myself. You can go save the cowboy trapped in the hardware store, or go steal a car from the parking garage and drive over zombies to your heart's content. The cowboy will die, some of the missions are mandatory to beat the game, but they will inform you that you fucked up, everyone's dead, but still, there you are still running over the walking dead til you get that damned zombie genocider achievement and those dead characters just don't matter anymore. Fuck 'em, you got your achievement, don't save it. Anyway, the first is based on the same story as Dawn of the Dead. You're in a mall, zombies come, there's a saferoom with random survivors. Some were there already, some are one's you save to build up your character. This is another element that kept me hooked for awhile. You can play until it gets a little too difficult and start over at the same level you stopped at, or, badass. Everything is a weapon. Potted plants, park benches, EVERYTHING. In the 2nd, your kid has been bitten by a zombie but they've come out with a vaccine of sorts called zombrex. The people who have let the zombies out to ravage the earth are blaming you for whatever reason. Your whole deal is to find zombrex and clear your name. This time they've decided everything being a weapon isn't good enough. So you can duct tape a car battery to a wheelchair and ride around shocking zombies to death, duct tape a shotgun to a pitchfork and so on. Bloody good underrated times. Granted, the story can be a little confusing, or ridiculous, but the gore and fun are plentiful.
